San Mateo Remodel

The concerns that the client had for their existing space prompted the decision to remodel. The existing spaces were quite dark. They did not take advantage of the California sun or the outside views. The spaces were small and disconnected and there was no advantage taken of outside living. The request of an outdoor room was on the top of the list.

The client asked for a sense of openness. The initial stair that was built in the home blocked the views and the light from the south. Larger dinning areas were provided and connected with the living room. This was paramount in their requests. The kitchen now connects views of San Francisco with an extension of the kitchen to the dinning area and a connection to the outdoor room. The outdoor room is a deck 24ft. square, allowing for some good furniture and umbrellas. It can also be seen from the family room through much wider and taller windows.
